   This album previously released as CS "Hoyt Axton" is printed in purple on the cover, as is the Columbia logo. Concerning the catalog numbers, C is on the spine and labels, is on the front and back cover/5.

   Among the best of his records would be My Griffin Is Gone, his psyche-folk opus. Running the gamut from pastoral musings like Way Before The Time Of Towns to harrowing anti-war ruminations (Beelzebub's Laughter) and moving meditations on drug abuse (Snowblind Friend) the album was written and recorded during a time of personal hardship and LSD experimentation/5(28).

   70s Columbia Label with Columbia written in orange circling the label. Though unlike C - Hoyt Axton - My Griffin Is Gone and KC Hoyt Axton - My Griffin Is Gone, this release maintained the original catalog number - CS

   Hoyt Axton was still in his first decade as a recording artist when he made this album, but it was a decade in which performing artists were certainly encouraged to think lofty thoughts. Pretension was as common on the radio in the late '60s as things would be in the '90s, hence we have an album, but sadly enough no song, on the theme of losing one's "griffin," typical Axton imagery that 8/
